Hair Loss Due To Stress:

Telogen effluvium is the classification of hair loss that is caused by sudden stress. Sudden hair loss due to stress usually occurs within 2-3 months after the traumatic experience. A normal person without tons of stress will generally lose around 100 hair follicles per day. However, someone that has experienced sudden stress can lose from 300-400 hair follicles per day which can be up to 70% of scalp hair.

The good news is that in most cases, hair loss caused by sudden stress is temporary. This means that once removed from the stress, the hair will generally come back the same as before. However, it will take some time, and the body needs to rest. The problem will continue for as long as the body is going through the stressful situation. Therefore, it is essential to remove yourself from the stressful situation.

Tips on Prevention:

1. Exercise.

Exercising is one of the best ways to help your body cope with and relieve stress. When you are experiencing stress, your body is likely overproducing the hormone adrenaline in order to compensate and keep you alert at all times. This over production is leading to enhanced alertness and anxiety. By exercising you will release this hormone through exercise and you will help your body return to its natural state. As you can see, exercise is going to ultimately help balance the level of hormones in your body.

2. Relaxation.

There is nothing truly special that you need in order to relax. You simply just need to find something that makes you relaxed and feel comfortable. Whether that is an environment, a position, or music. Regardless of what you use to make yourself relaxed, you will ultimately be creating a better atmosphere from which to eliminate and deal with stress.

3. Sleep.

Sleep is one of the most underrated tips in order to eliminate stress in your life. By sleeping at normal hours and giving your body enough rest, your body will stop overproducing adrenaline hormones. These hormones keep your body in a state of shock/alertness which is the main result of the stress induced hair loss.

4. Proper Diet.

A proper diet is essential to reducing the amount of stress levels in your life. It is important to eat a diet rich in protein and low in sugar. Over consumption of sugar can cause more adrenaline to be produced in the body.
